We can significantly reduce the appearance of fine expressive lines and wrinkles with wrinkle reduction treatment, revitalising both your skin and your confidence.
We take a natural approach – through treatment we aim to reduce the intensity of the muscle activity causing the lines in the affected area, allowing your skin to rest and softening the wrinkles as a result over time. The results are temporary, which gives you the freedom to refine them with each treatment, ensuring you can have your ideal outcome.
Wrinkle reducing injections temporarily reduce targeted muscle activity for around three to four months. The treatment has a great effect in areas where dynamic wrinkles are produced by continual creasing, making the facial skin appear much smoother and relaxed. These static wrinkles can be softened, but not erased altogether, although the treatment is able to stop them from getting worse.
The best results are usually obtained in the upper third of the face, specifically crows’ feet, upper forehead and the brow areas. Wrinkle reducing injections can also be used to lift the position of your eyebrows by a few millimetres and to soften dimply chins and horizontal neck lines.
We will first cleanse your face before applying an anaesthetic cream to ensure that you feel as comfortable as possible during the procedure. Our clinician will take careful measurements, asking you to repeatedly frown or squint so we can see how your facial muscles are affecting your overlying skin. The injection will then be administered into your muscles using fine needles.
We will invite you back to the clinic for a second appointment two weeks after your first to assess and document your results.
Wrinkle reduction injections offer different levels of results in each individual patient, but the relaxing effects of your treatment should be seen within 2-14 days. On average, most people see an improvement in the treated lines and wrinkles for three to four months following treatment.
Wrinkle reducing injections can’t produce permanent damage or travel within the body to make you ill. The product we use attaches to the muscles it is placed in and does not migrate from there - the injection technique ensures that it cannot pass into your bloodstream.
The treatment uses prescription-only drugs that have to be prescribed by a medical professional, such as a dentist or doctor.
The most common side effects are bruising and slight redness at the injection site. Some patients also report a mild headache, particularly after a forehead procedure. These symptoms usually correct themselves within 24 hours.
At Aesthetique, we are experienced practitioners with a proven history of successful treatments. Choosing a practitioner such as us is important to minimise the risk of side effects.
We will give you detailed aftercare instructions so you know what to do to help support your treatment results.
For the first few hours following treatment, it is important to gently exercise the treated muscles by actively using them, frowning and smiling as frequently as possible. There is some evidence to show that this helps to improve your results. You should also avoid touching the treated area for three to four hours after treatment.
