Regular Check-Ups

Our approach to dentistry is to prevent issues from occurring rather than treating them as they appear. This reduces time, cost and likelihood of invasive procedures. We recommend that you visit us every 6 months for a check-up and hygiene appointment to help us keep on top of this.  Your check-up appointment will include inspecting your mouth for signs of decay, gum disease and oral cancer, as well as discussing any issues or concerns you might have. If necessary, we will also take X-rays to check teeth beneath the surface and bone levels.

Gum Disease

A vital component of your dental check-up is examining for signs of gum disease. Gum disease is a result of plaque building on the surface of the teeth and gums and forming into tartar. As tartar forms, bacteria cause irritation and inflamed gums. According to Bupa, around 90% of adults in the UK have some form of gum disease, and if left untreated, this can lead to tooth decay. Plaque and tartar are impossible to eradicate with brushing and flossing alone, which is why check-ups and hygiene appointments are paramount.
