Dental implants – what are the advantages?

Dental care concept.
23 April 2019

We don’t mean to blow our own trumpet, but we are one of the most technologically advanced clinics in the North of England and use modern contemporary techniques to ensure that you receive the best dentistry possible. Some of the technology includes an onsite CT scanner so that we can take accurate scans of your teeth using the latest 3D imaging. We have invested in the Itero® system, which allows us to map out a patient’s orthodontic journey so they can see the results of their teeth straightening process on the screen in advance.

Dr Hamid, the lead dentist here, has over 20 years’ experience in general practice but has also held a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and implant dentistry for several years. He has been responsible for helping thousands of patients solve their dental issues and has helped to create many beautiful smiles.

The ethos here is to give you an honest opinion and to ensure that your trip to the dentist is pleasant and relaxed and the treatment provided is the best possible.

Now that you know you are in safe hands, we would like to discuss dental implants. They are the permanent solution for missing teeth. One of the major advantages we hear patients say is that they love the way they look and act just like their natural teeth. One of the other major advantages we see is that they do not impact the surrounding teeth and so are less costly for the patient in the long run.

What exactly are dental implants?

Dental implants are used to support one or more false teeth. They are small titanium screws, which are placed in the jawbone and act as the root of the tooth when the root has failed. Once the dental implants have been placed, your jaw needs to fuse to them, this usually takes a few months, and after this process, your new tooth can be fitted. There are many advantages to choosing dental implants over dentures, some of which are listed below:-

Advantages of dental implants

  • They are secure, so you can eat all the foods you want to without fear of pain or movement
  • They can last a lifetime if they are looked after
  • They are easy to manage and are more economical over the long run due to their longevity
  • They are a permanent solution
  • They can improve your speech, especially if you had gaps previously
  • They can boost your confidence and self-esteem
  • They can make you appear younger, as they stop the skin sagging that can occur when teeth suffer from gaps
  • They are easy to clean
  • They look and feel like your natural teeth
  • They are well-established and safe
